Amazon Wins Patent on Method to Identify & Sell Private Data on Source of Bitcoin PurchasesThis is a depressing though interesting read.  Basically, it suggests that Zuckerberg’s wincing chat with the senators last week, and the whole Cambridge Analytica debacle, counts for nothing – the world’s biggest retailer is going to doxx crypto purchasers and sell the data to the highest bidder, by compiling it against their shipping records. So much for the privacy, GDPR and any kind of change in policy, ever…

Amazon was awarded a US patent for analyzing the data stream coming from various data sources, to determine who has made a Bitcoin transaction. The data that the analysis provides may then be sold to subscribers, or shared with various government organizations, including law enforcement, tax collectors and regulators. […]
